This term’s classes

Grade accepts a letter or a percent. Credit hours are the catalog hours, not contact hours.

Term GPA

Term GPA
Credit hours
Quality points
Cumulative GPA

Add at least one class with a letter or percent and credit hours.

This is unweighted 4.0 arithmetic for a list of classes. It is not your registrar, not a weighted (5.0) GPA, and not a final-exam calculator. Plus/minus scales vary — A- is 3.7 here; some catalogs use 3.67 or no minus. A+ caps at 4.0, not 4.3. Percent mapping is a common 10-point plus/minus chart, not the bulletin. No AP/honors bump, no repeated-course replacement, no pass/fail.

Quality points across classes, not one exam

Term GPA is a credit-weighted average across this semester’s classes. One exam in one course is a different problem — that lives on the final grade calculator.

quality = points × credits
term GPA = Σ quality / Σ credits
cumulative = (prior GPA × prior credits + term quality)
           / (prior credits + term credits)

A = 4.0   A- = 3.7   B+ = 3.3   B = 3.0

Example: a 3-credit A and a 3-credit B → (4×3 + 3×3) / 6 = 3.50. Example: prior 3.20 over 30 credits plus that term → (3.20×30 + 21) / 36 = 3.25.

Letter points and percent bands

Unweighted 4.0. Percent bands are a common 10-point plus/minus chart, not your catalog.

FAQ

What are quality points, and how do they become term GPA?

Quality points are letter points × catalog credit hours for one class. Term GPA is the sum of those quality points divided by the sum of the credits. Documented fixture: a 3-credit A and a 3-credit B is (4×3 + 3×3) ÷ 6 = 3.50. Empty rows and P/NP / W / I are left off. This page does not plan a future-semester GPA to hit a target. It only averages the classes you typed.

Is this an unweighted 4.0 plus/minus scale?

Yes. Unweighted 4.0 only: A+ = 4.0, A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D- = 0.7, F = 0. A+ is capped at 4.0 here, not 4.3. No AP/honors 5.0 bump. Some catalogs use 3.67 for A- or skip minuses. Check the bulletin.

Is the cumulative GPA required?

No. Cumulative is optional. Prior GPA × prior credit hours, then add this term’s quality points and credits. Example: 3.20 over 30 credits plus this term’s 3.50 over 6 credits → (3.20×30 + 21) ÷ 36 = 3.25. Leave both boxes blank if you only want this semester.

Is this my registrar’s official GPA?

No. This is not the registrar. Plus/minus scales vary. Unweighted 4.0 arithmetic only — no repeated-course replacement, no 4.3 A+, no institutional rounding. Confirm the catalog. The page will not argue with the transcript.

Is this a weighted GPA calculator?

No. Weighted GPA usually means AP/IB/honors on a 5.0 scale, or assignment weights inside one course. This page is unweighted 4.0 across classes. Credit hours here are catalog hours, not a 5.0 bump. For percents and weights in a single course, use the weighted grade calculator.

Is this a final-exam calculator?

No. This page is term GPA across classes. For “what grade do I need on my final” in one course, use the final grade calculator. Searchers mix GPA, weighted grade, and one exam. These pages do not.
